About me: Angela Karakus

I love words! I've been a writer for most of my life and have written on and edited a wide range of subjects.

Words: I had a prize-winning screenplay produced to film and am currently writing a novel. I achieved accreditation as a proofreader and copy-editor with Chapterhouse Publishing. I have studied many aspects of writing, copywriting and editing with The Open University, First Take Productions (Liverpool), Liverpool Community College and The Writers’ Bureau.

Other: I have worked for the NHS, published academics, local business people, international business people and health information websites. I've helped people with learning difficulties and have been involved with several charity projects.

Science: I studied Microbiology at John Moores University, with modules at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. I worked as a medical technical officer in the NHS.

Home: I’ve got three children and two grandchildren. I live in Toxteth, Liverpool.

Hobbies: I read at least one book per week and always have an audio book for long walks. I don't spend much time on my hobbies but I've been known to crochet, carve wood and stone, sculpt clay, draw, dabble in poetry, compose music, arrange flowers and do a bit of gardening (well, I stop weeds from strangling my real plants).

Interests: I've been a vegetarian for twelve years. I am an atheist with Buddhistic tendencies.

Chocolate: I have a strong affinity for this substance.
